Glentoran 1 Sligo Rovers 1:SLIGO ROVERS booked their place in the semi-final stage last night in Belfast.
The Glens took the lead through Sean Ward but didn’t make their early dominance count and Sligo made certain of their progress late on as Danny North scored from the penalty spot on a night when the floodlights failed, causing a delay in the second half.
Trailing 2-0 from the first leg, Glentoran, deservedly opened the scoring with a stunning 30-yard strike from Ward on 21 minutes.
After the break Sligo looked a lot more comfortable and the Glens lost their focus a little when on 72 minutes the lights went out at the Oval for 20 minutes. In the last minute Romauld Boco was tripped by Calum Birney and North fired home the spot-kick.
