SLIGO ROVERS yesterday completed the signing of Joseph Ndo, a former title winner with both Shelbourne and Bohemians, who had been reported to be seeking a club abroad after leaving Dalymount Park at the end of last season.

The 33-year-old former Cameroon international, who first arrived in Ireland seven years ago after signing for St Patrick’s Athletic, goes straight into Paul Cook’s squad and looks likely to make his debut for his new club back at Dalymount this Friday night.

“He’ll excite our supporters and brings something extra to our squad,” said Cook yesterday. “We worked hard to complete the deal, everyone knows the talent Joseph possesses and I’m looking forward to working with him.”

Sligo, meanwhile, have confirmed they will not be appealing the FAI’s ruling that Chris Turner is a free agent. The decision should pave the way for the midfielder to complete his move to Shamrock Rovers.

The Dubliners’ home game against Bohemians in April is to be broadcast live by RTÉ2, it was confirmed yesterday. The league champions’ first visit of the season to Bray, which had been scheduled for Friday week, has also been brought forward to this coming Monday.

The board of Cobh Ramblers, meanwhile, has stepped down, paving the way for the FAI to appoint an outside administrator, whose job will be to turn the ailing A Championship club around.

The club is currently in debt to the tune of around €180,000, but a deal has been agreed with the FAI for the sale of St Colman’s Park.

The association’s appointee is expected to be in effective control of the club for between 18 months and three years and Ramblers will have an option to purchase the ground back.

The purchase price being paid for St Colman’s by the association is said to reflect the dramatic decline in property prices but, it is said, the deal will safeguard the ground’s future as a venue for soccer.
