THIS contest was virtually over after only 15 minutes as Old Westley were shocked by some superb Young Munster play that yielded three relatively uncontested tries.
The home team's first try came after seven minutes when a high ball from Munster's full-back, Peter Boland, was fumbled by his opposite number, Stewart Wilson, giving the home team a scrum under the Old Wesley right upright. Number eight, Declan Edwards, broke from the back and his speed and strength carried him through the defence. Out-half Aidan O'Halloran converted.
Seven minutes later they were 14 points ahead. From a scrum on the Wesley 22 scrum-half John Moloney supplied O'Halloran, whose pass was switched from Michael Lynch to Boland, who ran in unchallenged under the crossbar. O'Halloran again converted. From the kick-off Munster formed a ruck from which Ger Earls and Des Clohessy peeled off and their movement created a three-man overlap for wing, Niall McNamara, who cut inside and managed to make it to the line.
Following the break. Wesley attempted a comeback but their only reward came from out-half Adrian Hawe.
