DERRY won their seventh Ulster under-21 football title at Omagh yesterday when they brushed aside a brave Fermanagh challenge with style and power.
It was a confident display by a strong and skillful side which responded willingly to the promptings of skipper Johnny McBride.
Enda Muldoon cracked home a brilliant goal in the 21st minute and Fermanagh were perhaps fortunate to be no more than two points behind at half time. But they hit back with a stunning goal, skipper Liam McBarron blasting to the net the end of a dazzling seven man passing movement.
That setback merely sparked a frenetic Derry response and they scored six times without reply wonderful points coming from McBride, Joe Cassidy and Sean McGuckin.
. Tyrone qualified for a McKenna Cup final clash with Fermanagh with a big win over Cavan (3-12 to 1-8) in yesterday's drab semi final at Omagh.
