Sandmoor set for Tote glory

Take a chance with Sandmoor Chambray to overcome a 5lb penalty and 35 rivals to land the Tote Cambridgeshire at Newmarket

Take a chance with Sandmoor Chambray to overcome a 5lb penalty and 35 rivals to land the Tote Cambridgeshire at Newmarket. Saddled with 9st 7lb this afternoon, Tim Easterby's in-form handicapper has of late been running out of his skin with a succession of good efforts.

Out of his last six runs this game front-runner has won three and been runner-up on the other three starts. His best performance was, undoubtedly, when trotting up by two-and-a-half lengths from subsequent Listed winner Danish Rhapsody at Epsom last month.

Easterby's six-year-old chased the early leader until taking over with two furlongs to travel. Once in front the result was never in doubt as the son of Most Welcome cruised home to earn his penalty.

Sent to Ayr to contest a Listed event for his latest outing, the Habton runner acquitted himself well. Always up with the pace he kept on gamely to chase home John Dunlop's smart three-year-old Ghataas, albeit three-and-a-half lengths away.
