Sackville overcame a monumental jumping error four fences from home in the Steel Plate and Sections Novices' Chase at Cheltenham yesterday to beat Charter Ridge by six lengths and give Irish trainer Frances Crowley her first winner around Prestbury Park.

Reiziger, co-owned by actress Catherine Zeta Jones's father David, took the leading role in the Grade Two Capel Cure Sharp Novices' Hurdle in the hands of Richard Johnson.

Swansea-based Jones and his partner Brian Thomas were understandably overjoyed as Johnson drove the Philip Hobbs-trained four-year-old to victory, three lengths clear of Palouse.

Kim Bailey ended a 47-day barren spell after Supreme Charm galloped on strongly to defy Galapiat Du Mesnil by half a dozen lengths for Norman Williamson in the Sporting Index Cross Country Steeplechase. "I really needed a change of luck and this was a nice prize to win so it's worked out well," beamed Bailey.
