Australian backrow due to stay out west until 2024 after joining from Brumbies in 2017

Connacht captain Jarrad Butler has signed a two year contract extension that keeps him at the province until 2024.

The 30 year old Australian has made 90 appearances since joining from the Brumbies in 2017. He took over the club captaincy from John Muldoon induring his second year with the province.

Butler was born in New Zealand but has represented Australia at underage level.

Head coach Andy Friend welcomed the new deal upon its announcement: “Jarrad has all the qualities you look for in a club captain” he said.

“He leads by his actions on and off the field, and commands the respect of his fellow players. I’m delighted that he has chosen to stay at Connacht in what will be a really exciting period for everyone at the club.”
