A revitalised Richmond leapfrogged over Leicester into third place in Allied Dunbar Premiership One after trouncing them 32-15 at the Athletic Ground last night.
Richmond brought Leicester down to earth after their 55-15 rout of Sale at the weekend to secure their second win in three days following their victory at Bristol.
The London side set the pace from the start and although Leicester edged 3-0 ahead with a Michael Horak penalty, it did not last long. Within minutes Richmond had take the lead when Steve Cottrell dived over in the corner.
The home side could have been further ahead after 20 minutes had they decided to kick their penalties, but they preferred to run everything. Eventually the tactic paid dividends, Craig Gillies capitalising when he found himself unmarked three yards out in the 26th minute, and they led 13-10 at the break
In the second half it was one-way traffic, with Richmond's Welsh connection of Scott and Craig Quinnell, and Allan Bateman running the show.
