Heavy overnight rain has put paid to this afternoon's jumps meeting at Newton Abbot. It was called off after a course inspection yesterday morning.

"May 1st and it's waterlogged - it's unbelievable!" clerk of the course Michael Trickey exclaimed.

"The course was just raceable yesterday but there was continuous rain after we left in the afternoon.

"We had half an inch overnight and it is just hopeless so we have called it off."
