Offaly reappoint McIntyre

Gaelic Games NewsJohn McIntyre has been reappointed as manager of the Offaly hurlers. The former Tipperary player and Galway-based coach, who is on his second stint with the county, will be joined as a selector by former Offaly star Joachim Kelly. Twice an All-Ireland medallist, Kelly has experience of senior inter-county management both as a selector in his county and as manager of Wexford.

Under McIntyre, Offaly returned to Division One of the National League, and after a harrowing defeat by Kilkenny in the Leinster semi-final, recovered well in the All-Ireland qualifier series and lost narrowly to group winners Clare.

Meanwhile, three former Kerry players, Mickey Ned O'Sullivan, Páidí Ó Sé (both of whom managed Kerry) and John Kennedy are in the race for the vacant position as manager of the Limerick senior football team, following the departure of fellow Kerryman Liam Kearns.

However, the favourite for the post is Laois-born Ger Lawlor, who had charge of the Limerick under-21 team for the last couple of years. He is associated with the Monaleen club, who are through to the semi-finals of the county championship this weekend.

Interviews are to be held with all four candidates.
