Freestyler Nick O'Hare, who was first of the four-strong Irish party to arrive in Sydney for the world swimming championships in Perth, has settled in well after travelling on St Stephen's day.
O'Hare linked up with the Australian party for some long-course training and will be in action in the 100 metres freestyle tomorrow week. He completes his programme the following Saturday in the explosive 50 metres freestyle.
Adrian O'Connor and Colin Lowth will be the first Irish swimmers in the water on Monday, both going in the 200 metres freestyle. O'Connor goes in the 100 freestyle heats with O'Hare. O'Connor competes in his strongest event, the 100 metres backstroke, the following day and winds up his programme in the 200 metres backstroke on Sunday week.
Lowth, now fully recovered from injury, will have three days of competition. Apart from Monday's 200 freestyle, he will be in action in the 100 tomorrow week and 200 metres two days later.
Hugh O'Connor, a late call up following the withdrawal of Michelle de Bruin, goes in the 100 and 200 metres backstroke events.
