DUBLIN SFC QUARTER-FINALS:NAVAN ROAD neighbours St Oliver Plunketts and St Brigid's have been kept apart in the last four of the Dublin SFC draw which was made following an action -packed championship weekend.

Plunketts recorded a 2-9 to 1-9 win over St Vincent’s in Parnell Park without the services of GAA/GPA player of the year Alan Brogan. Brother Bernard was on hand, however, to register six points but they had to come from behind to secure the victory after Ruairí Trainor’s goal had handed Vincent’s a 1-5 to 0-6 lead at the break.

David Matthews replied with a goal for Plunketts two minutes after the restart before Diarmuid Connolly levelled proceedings in a low-scoring third quarter.

A classy finish from Jason Sherlock off Brogan’s pass reignited proceedings and Philip Brogan pulled off two late saves to deny Kevin Golden and Connolly.

St Brigid’s were 1-17 to 1-7 winners over 2009 champions Ballyboden St Enda’s, with a 10th minute goal from Philly Ryan putting them 1-7 to 0-4 up at the break at O’Toole Park.

Further points from Paddy Andrews (two), Barry Cahill (Mark Cahill top-scored with 0-7) and Ken Darcy moved Brigid’s 10 points clear before Ballyboden managed a late goal through Andrew Kerin.

Brigid’s opponents in the semi-final are Ballymun Kickhams who recorded a 1-9 to 0-7 win over Parnells in Parnell Park.

A 19th-minute Elliot Reilly goal had moved Ballymun five points clear and four minutes later Parnells’ midfielder Conor Talty was to leave the field on a second yellow.

Leading 1-3 to 0-3 at the interval, Ballymun extended their lead with points from Derek Byrne and Alan Hubbard.

Parnells rallied with scores from Armagh’s Johnny Murtagh, Colm Begley and Joey Collins to put just two points between the sides with two minutes to go.

Ballymun managed to stem the tide with Eddie Christie coming off the bench to register two points, with James Burke also on target.

The fourth quarter-final at O’Toole Park saw Lucan Sarsfields defeat Thomas Davis on a 1-12 to 0-10 scoreline, with Stephen Garbutt finding the back of the net for Lucan shortly after his introduction.

Paul Hudson had landed back-to-back scores for Davis to leave them up a point at the break but following Garbutt’s goal, Sarsfields finally pulled away with two scores from David Quinn.
