Women's Football: In the TG4 Ulster Championship yesterday, there were semi-final wins for both Monaghan and Armagh, but the games are contested over two legs and the second round will take place next weekend.

Monaghan are looking good to make the final, though, after beating Down by 2-8 to 0-7 in Downpatrick yesterday. The sides were level on three points apiece at half-time but a minute after the resumption Gráinne McNally rattled the back of the Down net. Niamh Kindlon followed that goal with a point to put Monaghan four points up.

Michaela Downey tried hard to keep Down in the game at this stage with a brace of points. However, Monaghan responded with 1-4 in succession - the goal coming from Therese McNally.

In the second Ulster semi-final, Armagh beat Tyrone 0-15 to 1-8 at Mullaghbawn.
