Schools rugby: Midleton College qualified for the semi-finals of the Munster Schools' Senior cup when they beat Newtown School 11-9 in Waterford yesterday in their replayed quarter-final.

Newtown led 6-3 at half-time and they had a chance to win with two long-range penalties in the closing stages.

Elsewhere, a try and a drop goal from scrumhalf Derek Farrell edged Tullamore College past Marian College 8-5 in the Leinster Schools' Senior Development Cup semi-final replay at Cill Dara.
