Women's Football Leinster Championship: Meath continued their impressive form in the TG4 Women's Leinster Football Championship yesterday with a three-point win over Kildare at Newbridge, 4-10 to 1-16.

Apart from a disappointing defeat to Dublin in the first game of the round-robin section, the Royals have blazed a trail in Leinster and will fancy their chances now in the semi-finals.

Elsewhere in the Leinster championship yesterday, Laois annihilated Longford in Killoe, 3-33 to 0-4, as they too progress to the provincial semi-finals.

There were two games on Saturday as well with Monaghan beating Down 5-12 to 0-8 in the Ulster championship at Clones, while Kerry hammered Clare in Munster, 11-31 to 4-0.

It was a vital win for Monaghan, who at the very least will now end up with a play-off place. Monaghan led 1-5 to 0-4 at half-time.

The minors of Galway and Donegal will meet in this year's All-Ireland final after winning their respective semi-finals on Saturday. Galway beat Dublin 2-13 to 0-6 in Athlone, while Donegal caused a surprise by beating defending champions Cork in Tuam 2-11 to 0-15.

Galway senior players Niamh Fahy and Ann Marie McDonagh starred for the Westerners as they dominated midfield and curbed Dublin pushing forward.

A first-half goal by Caitriona Cormican gave the Westerners a 1-6 to 0-4 interval advantage, while senior player Sarah Cosgrove tagged on the second to effectively kill off Dublin after the resumption.

Donegal led Cork by the minimum at half-time in Tuam, 0-6 to 0-5. However, the game swung on the sin-binning of Cork centre forward Amanda Murphy early in the second half.

Donegal senior player Yvonne McMonagle rattled the Cork net while their goalkeeper Karen Guttaky kept the Ulster girls in the lead with a string of fine saves.
