While competing in the Irish Open at Portmarnock in 1979, Mark McCumber stole away on the Saturday to see Royal Co Down. Now, he is looking towards a long-awaited return to Newcastle. "I'll be 50 next September which makes me eligible for the 2002 Senior British Open," he told me at Sawgrass this week. "I can't wait to go back there."
