McCoist rescues Rangers

Ally McCoist rolled back the years last night to steer Rangers into a Scottish Cup semi-final meeting with Celtic. McCoist scored twice with classy strikes to floor Dundee, the gallant first-division leaders.

Rangers conceded a goal after 11 minutes when James Grady picked up a loose ball and sent a rising shot over Andy Goram. But McCoist dragged them level after 18 minutes. Tony Vidmar hoisted a long throw into the penalty area and Marco Negri touched the ball on for the veteran striker to send home a glancing header.

Rangers stepped up the pace after the interval and McCoist notched his second goal with a wonderful strike from the edge of the area.
