Loreto's perfect start facing test

WEDNESDAY night's 4-2 victory over Railway Union put Muckross back on familiar ground on top of the Leinster League but their stay there will last only until tomorrow afternoon when title rivals Loreto and Old Alexandra meet in the weekend's only division one match.

Loreto go in to the match attempting to retain their 100 per cent record but coach Noel Keogh expects Old Alexandra to give his team their toughest test yet. "It has the makings of a great match.

Alex have a good coach in Simon Filgas, they're a very good side with a lot of experience and we expect it to be a tough match but it's one we're really looking forward to," said Keogh.

"There's only a third of the season gone so there's a long way to go but I think the best is yet to come from us," added Keogh, who will turn his attention to his second coaching position on Sunday when he travels to Galway for a training session with the Connacht women's squad.

Ulster, the defending champions, are awaiting fitness reports on Kim Mills of Pegasus and Ards' Caroline Craig, before naming their squad for interprovincials which will be held in Dublin in three weeks time. Meanwhile, Bernie Heffernan has been able to announce her Munster squad which includes former Muckross star Sarah Kelleher who now plays with Slough in the English league. Teresa Hurley, Kellchcr's club captain last season, has been included in the Leinster squad despite breaking a bone in her left hand a fortnight ago.
