THREE Leinster sides, Newpark, Wesley and St Andrew's, along with the holders, RBAI, have reached the semi finals of the high scoring Irish Schools hockey championship in Cork.

Four members of Ireland's Triple crown winning squad of last season - Mark Hill, Gary Ringwood, Justin Sherriff and Stephen Butler - predictably played leading roles in the pool matches.

Hill was the leading scorer for RBAI, sinking hat tricks in each of yesterday's Pool A games as the favourites maintained a 100 per cent record.

But the four goals in 15 minutes strike by Ringwood for Wesley against Ashton on Tuesday was the key factor in Group D while Sherriff hit five for St Andrew's against Portadown yesterday to yield the Dublin school a semi final place on goal difference ahead of Bangor in Pool B.
