The Kilkenny county hurling final topped the bill when it came to yesterday's relatively few postponements due to the inclement weather. The clash of Dunnamaggin and Young Irelands has been reschedules for next Sunday.

The other county finals to fall of the weather included the Carlow football replay between Palatine and Rathvilly. In Waterford, Stradbally and The Nire were due to play the county's football decider in Dungarvan. That game has already been rescheduled for next Saturday, again at Dungarvan, with a 2.30 throw-in.

Driving rain and strong winds played havoc with the GAA programme in Galway, too. Among the games postponed was the eagerly-awaited football semi- final between Corofin and Milltown, which was due to be played at Tuam stadium.

The double bill at Kenny Park, Athenry, also bit the dust when the county semi-finals involving the home club and Carnmore and the Sarsfields v Portumna game were both put on hold after a pitch inspection.
