St Mel's number eight Dara McWeeney opened the scoring in the fifth minute with a try, which was converted by Brian Kennedy. Further tries from Kieran Manicle, Joe Kelly and Sean Stakelum put St Mel's 22-0 in front at the break.

Joe Kelly, John Geraghty and Ciaran Connolly added tries after the break but Eamonn Bracken scored a consolation try for Tullamore three minutes before the end.
