JODAMI, whose main target is the Aintree Grand National, starts his campaign in the Sean Graham Chase at Ayr tomorrow.

Peter Beaumont's 1993 Cheltenham Gold Cup winner began his season in the same race last term and ran very well to finish a seven length second to One Man, when trying to concede Gordon Richards' grey 16lb.

And the Brandsby trainer this morning said: "All being well he runs at Ayr on Saturday and Mark (Dwyer) rides. The horse is in good form and has trimmed up nicely after his summer out at grass."

Jodami, who was placed in this year's Irish Grand National and Whitbread Gold Cup, has been given top weight in the Hennessy Cognac Gold Cup at the end of this month but is a doubtful runner.

We'll see how we go with him but he has 12st in the Hennessy and that is not very good, we'll sort something out after Saturday," commented Beaumont.

"I've put him in at Haydock on Wednesday in case Ayr gets called off but there are not many opportunities for a horse like him. Long term we are looking at Aintree.

"Jodami is not getting any quicker but he is very well," added the trainer.
