RACING IN Hong Kong was yesterday rocked by the news of 18 arrests in its latest race-fixing scandal. The suspects, including four jockeys and two trainers, were arrested for allegedly fixing races, Hong Kong's chief anti-corruption agency reported.

A statement by the agency said its officers also raided 55 buildings, including two which were believed to be illegal book-making centres.

The agency revealed that about 220 of its investigators were involved in the operation, which resulted from information released by the Hong Kong Jockey Club. The names of those detained were not disclosed.
