The fallout from the Ryder Cup controversy continued yesterday with Jean Van de Velde and Bernhard Langer demanding to see the minutes of the meeting last week which kept Mark James as Ryder Cup vice-captain.
In their absence from the tournament committee meeting at Loch Lomond on July 11th, Ken Schofield, executive director of the European Tour, was left to represent the pair's views.
But their opposition to the way James criticised Nick Faldo in his Ryder Cup captaincy book had no effect and James received a unanimous vote of confidence.
Faldo has expressed his amazement that James remained in the room as chairman of the committee when the matter of his conduct was raised.
Van de Velde told the Mail on Sunday: "I was shocked by the committee decision. I thought my views would have been made clear to the committee and I fully expected some action to be taken.
"I've spoken to Bernhard Langer and we're agreed that we need to see the minutes of the meeting. We need to know whether our views were put across and what reaction was created.
"There was strong feeling around that the whole matter should be wrapped up and brought to an end. That obviously hasn't happened."
Sam Torrance, James' successor as captain and the man who appointed him as a vice-captain, asked the committee last week to support his decision.
They did that, but did not take a vote on James' position as chairman, which Van de Velde and Langer have attacked.
