THE effect of the Bosman ruling on Irish basketball continued yesterday when two Irish internationals, John Burke and Alan Tomidy signed for European clubs as regular EU players. This follows the exodus of Dan Callahan to Belgium and John O'Connell to Germany earlier this month.

Burke, who had a fine season for Long Island University and was selected to play in the NABC All-Star game, has signed for the German side Oldenburg. This follows Tomidy's move to Greek side Aris Salonika last Friday. Tomidy, who has 17 Irish caps, signed a two-year deal worth around $550,000.
