MICHAEL KINANE continued his successful run in Hong Kong by guiding 20 to 1 shot Che Sara Sara to a half length victory over Deauville in the £300,889 Hong, Kong Derby over nine furlongs yesterday.

Che Sara Sara, trained by David Oughton, had won just one of his five previous starts in Hong Kong but was clearly at home on the good to yielding surface.

The favourite Mr Vitality proved a bitter disappointment by trailing in ninth under Basil Marcus. He became restless in the stalls and reared up once the gates opened.

Marcus lodged a complaint against the starter stating that the hood had been removed from Mr Vitality sometime before the gates opened, thus causing his mount to be become excitable.
