Just seven days after missing his first cut since October 2006, Padraig Harrington is flirting dangerously with the mark in the second round of the St Jude Championship in Memphis.
The Dubliner, seeking to fine tune his game ahead of next week's US Open, carded a second round of 72 to lie at three-over for the tournament.
And with the cut projected to fall right on that mark, Harrington faces an anxious wait to see how the later starters fare.
Overnight leader Boo Weekley, yet to take to the course, remains at the top of the pile following yesterday's five-under 65.
Of the early starters, American Michael Bradley got closest to Weekley but is still two off the pace on three-under.
Harrington, meanwhile, will tee it up with reigning champion Angel Cabrera and Davis Love III for next week's second major of the year.
This year's only major winner so far, South Africa's Trevor Immelman, who triumphed at the Masters in April, tees off with Zach Johnson and Canadian Mike Weir.
Current European Tour Order of Merit leader Miguel Angel Jiminez is paired with Boo Weekley and Japan's Shingo Katayama, while 2005 champion Michael Campbell, of New Zealand, is with Sweden's Jesper Parnevik and American Todd Hamilton.
In an all-English trio, Ian Poulter, Paul Casey and Luke Donald chase their first major, as does Sergio Garcia, who is paired with world number 12 Stewart Cink and three-time major winner Vijay Singh.
Jim Furyk, who won at Olympia Fields in 2003, is paired with world numbers seven and nine, Steve Stricker and KJ Choi.
Earlier, US Open organisers announced that Tiger Woods had been paired with Phil Mickelson and Adam Scott, while Ernie Els, Justin Rose and Geoff Ogilvy make up another mouthwatering trio.
Woods' group goes off at 8.06am local time while Els, Rose and Ogilvy tee-off at 1.36pm.
