Last week we told you about 14-year-old Charlotte Morris's claims of negligence and recklessness against Huddersfield Town, after one of their players broke her arm while practising shots on goal in the warm-up for their game against Wycombe. This week? The consequences. Third division Torquay have banned shots on goal during the pre-match warmup because of fears of legal action from fans hit by wayward shooting. The club has already had to pay out to a woman whose glasses were smashed by a mis-hit practice shot and 60 seats at the club's Plainmoor ground have been broken by the efforts of dodgy strikers.
"There would not be a problem if the players scored every time," Torquay chairman Mervyn Benney said. Who are ya tellin' Mervyn. Who are ya tellin'?
