Fitzgibbon Cup: Mary I ease past GMIT to reach semi-finals

A second half David Reidy goal and three Sean Linnane points were enough for Mary I

Mary Immaculate 2-25 GMIT 0-10

Mary Immaculate are into the Fitzgibbon Cup semi-final after a comprehensive victory over GMIT in Limerick this afternoon.

Goals in each half from Limerick seniors Declan Hannon and David Reidy sent Eamon Cregan’s side into the finals weekend at Cork IT in a fortnight’s time after a convincing display.

Leading 1-18 to 0-0 at half-time – thanks largely to the help of a strong wind – Mary I eased off in the second-half as Davy Conroy led the GMIT fightback.

But once Reidy finished smartly 12 minutes from time and Sean Linnane hit three points after the break, Mary Immaculate’s passage to the final was confirmed.
