SOUTH AFRICA'S David Frost won for the first time since 1994 yesterday, denying Tiger Woods a third consecutive title to capture the $1.6 million PGA Colonial by two strokes at Fort Worth, Texas.

Frost, who last won in Hartford three years ago, fired a three under par 67 in the final round to finish at 15 under par 265, then watched Woods and David Ogrin falter over the final holes in their bid to match him.

The $288,000 top prize for winning his 10th PGA title gave Frost a boost after a slow start this year, missing the cut in seven of nine PGA starts and managing only one top 20 finish.

Woods trailed by one stroke with two to play, but sent his approach on the 17th hole over the green and into trees. Woods then chipped into a greenside bunker and settled for his second double bogey of the day.
