A CORK teenage sailor, Stefan Hyde (14), from the Royal Cork Yacht Club, has won the trials series, run by the International Optimist Dinghy Association of Ireland, to select the national youth sailing squad from which Ireland's international under 16 sailing teams will be drawn.

The World Team announced yesterday is: Stefan Hyde (RCYC), Jonathan Coate (NYC), Colin Lough (EABC), Ian Doig (EABC) and Colm Galvin (RCYC).

The European team will be: Dermot Walsh (SLYC), Roy Darrer (RCYC), Peter Bayly (Lough Derg), Peter O'Leary (RCYC), Sue Monson (SLYC) Sarah O'Neill (Royal St George, Dublin) and Jennifer Liddle (EABC). Lorcan Lennon (EABC) Richard Murphy (RCYC) and Dylan Gannon (Howth YC) qualified for inclusion in the National Squad as first substitutes for the international teams with which they will train for the remainder of the summer.
