BILLY ANDRADE, Tim Herron, Jesper Parnevik and Glen Day fired six under par 66s yesterday to share the lead after the opening round of the $1.9 million Memorial Tournament in Dublin, Ohio.

Scott Hoch was one shot further back after a 67, while Phil Blackmar, Guy Boros and former US Open champion Ernie Els shot on 68s.

US Masters champion Tiger Woods went without a birdie and was three over through 14 holes before eagling the par five 15th and birdying the 16th for an even par 72. John Daly had a rocky return to the US Tour after a two month absence, posting a four over 76 that included six bogeys. Daly checked himself into the Betty Ford Clinic in late March for recurring alcohol problems.

Two time champion Jack Nicklaus, the course designer and tournament host, is part of a seven way tie for ninth after shooting a three under 69.
