THE resignation of the Minister of State for Finance, Ms Eithne Fitzgerald, was demanded by the PD leader.

Referring to Ms Fitzgerald's issuing of invitations to a £100 ahead Labour fund raising lunch, Ms Mary Harney said: "The content of the letter is a serious matter. In my view it is a resigning matter for the Minister, who has responsibility for ethics in public office."

Ms Harney said it would be improper for any Minister to seek £100 from any individual to give access to the Minister for Finance.

The Ceann Comhairle, Mr Sean Treacy, said he would not allow a repeat of the previous day's debate on the matter.
