Monaghan took the intercounty Vocational Schools' title for the first time with this comprehensive victory over Cavan in a game that was played in difficult underfoot conditions in Clones yesterday.

Paul Finlay proved the star of the show for Monaghan with a brilliant display in the centre of the field, while his six points went a long way to ensuring victory.

Monaghan led at half-time by 0-5 to 0-3 and took an increasing grip on the game in the second half and were nine points ahead by the 55th minute.
