FAI officials are to keep the pressure on UEFA for an early announcement on the feasibility of Yugoslavia and Macedonia fulfilling their European championship qualifying games at Lansdowne Road in June.
They contend that they need a month's notice ahead of the first of the fixtures, against Yugoslavia on June 5th, to enable them to complete the necessary arrangements.
Hopes that UEFA would be able to decide at this week's meeting of their Executive Committee at Tel Aviv were shown to be premature. Now May 22nd, the date of the committee's next session in Barcelona, is seen as the likely cutoff point.
"Obviously, we cannot go on postponing fixtures indefinitely but at this point there is still ample time to wait and see if the games in Dublin can be played in June," a spokesman said.
Jesper Blomqvist, the Manchester United winger, is included in Sweden's squad of 20 for next Wednesday's international friendly game against the Republic of Ireland at Lansdowne Road.
The National League match between Finn Harps and Sligo Rovers was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
