Glenealy 1-11 Carnew 0-10:WING FORWARD Eoin Dunne's late goal secured another senior hurling title for Glenealy at Aughrim yesterday. In one of the best hurling finals in years, the sides had been level seven times with never more than a point or two between the teams.

Carnew set the pace with talismanic full-forward Don Hyland leading the charge with a string of points, mostly from frees.

Carnew led 0-7 to 0-6 at half -time but Glenealy hit back four times to level the scores and into the last quarter they were again deadlocked at 0-10 apiece. Hyland had scored nine of those points for Carnew but Glenealy possessed a greater variety of scorers.

Wayne O’Gorman edged Glenealy in front. Carnew came in search of an equaliser but corner-back Mark Collins and Hyland were off target from vital chances.
