Andre Fabre hopes to be doubly represented by the three-year-olds Sagamix and Limpid in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe at Longchamp on Sunday.

Limpid will be attempting a mile and a half for the first time in the French feature whereas Sagamix has won all three starts over 12 furlongs on soft going, including twice over Sunday's course and distance.

"Both are intended runners at this point, although Limpid will need to be supplemented on Thursday at a cost of 400,000 francs," revealed Fabre.

"Limpid is coming off an unlucky fifth in the Juddmonte International, although on breeding he is by no means guaranteed to stay the trip.

"Sagamix is coming off his Prix Niel win and both he and Limpid are nice horses, although you wouldn't put them in the worldbeater category.

"But then how many Arc contenders this year correspond to that definition anyway?

"Jockey plans will be finalised nearer the time."

The ground at Longchamp was labelled as very soft (4.0 on the penetrometer scale) yesterday and rain is forecast. Richard Quinn is on stand-by to ride Leggera in the race and this daughter of Sadler's Wells will appreciate the current underfoot conditions at Longchamp.

The Scotsman had partnered John Dunlop's filly to a three-quarters of a length win in the Prix Vermeille on soft going over course and distance earlier this month.

However, Leggera, like Limpid, is not among the Arc entries and would need to be supplemented tomorrow if she is to take part.

Meanwhile, Supply And Demand was the best backed horse with Coral for Saturday's Tote Cambridgeshire, for which 47 horses were confirmed at yesterday's five-day stage.

Coral reacted by cutting Supply And Demand to 9 to 1 from 16 to 1.

Spokesman Simon Clare explained: "From the moment we opened this morning, Supply And Demand was the only horse our customers wanted to back. We cut it from 16 to 1 to 12 to 1 in the first half an hour of trading."

Pat Hughes, successful with Potato Merchant in the 1980 Irish Cesarewitch, will run Quinze in the £25.000 premier handicap at the Curragh on Saturday. Shane Kelly, who has ridden the horse to win his last three starts, will again have the mount.
