Doran hat-trick

Newpark advanced to the next round of the tournament with an emphatic victory over Greendale CS at Merrion Road.

Greendale, though newcomers to the competition, proved themselves to be quick learners and hard-working. They improved throughout the match and centre Karl O'Reilly showed himself to be an excellent footballer.

The Newpark team, however, were too strong and scored 10 unanswered tries. Captain and centre Jason Lowe scored two tries and kicked eight conversions, and robust hooker Jack Doran scored a hat-trick of tries.

Three matches were not played yesterday. The Kells CS-Sandford Park match arranged for Navan Road was postponed because Kells inadvertently travelled to Navan.

Wexford CBS received a walkover from Ashbourne who failed to appear at the Athy venue while Presentation Glasthule got a walkover from New Ross CBS.
