Greendale, though newcomers to the competition, proved themselves to be quick learners and hard-working. They improved throughout the match and centre Karl O'Reilly showed himself to be an excellent footballer.

The Newpark team, however, were too strong and scored 10 unanswered tries. Captain and centre Jason Lowe scored two tries and kicked eight conversions, and robust hooker Jack Doran scored a hat-trick of tries.
