BOXING:The much-anticipated meeting of Limerick's Andy Lee and WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez jnr has been confirmed. Boxing promoter Lou DiBella yesterday sent out a tweet confirming the bout.
“Chavez-Lee done deal. Contracts being worked on 4 Martinez vs winner. Boxing the fans win.”
Sergio Martinez, currently The Ring middleweight champion, recently stopped Tipperary man Matthew Macklin in the 11th round at New York’s Madison Square Garden.
Lee also confirmed yesterday he will face Chavez, who defeated Derry’s John Duddy in 2010.

“That’s right y’all it’s on and poppin’ Thanks for all the messages of support, really appreciate it.” Reports suggest the fight is likely to take place in El Paso, Texas on June 16th.
