Derry halt Bray's run

Derry City ended Bray's unbeaten run at the Brandywell last night following this well-deserved victory.

Indeed, the Northern side continued to hold the Indian sign over the seasiders Bray having failed to win at this venue since 1985.

And, last night, Derry couldn't have asked for a better start when home debutant Padraig Moran broke the deadlock after just 32 seconds.

Following a Liam Coyle flick-on, Moran scampered clear on the left before driving the ball home from an acute angle.

But Bray battled back to equalise on the stroke of half-time. A superb cross by Matt Britton found the head of diminutive Maurice Farrell, who headed home at the back post.

After the break, Derry ended this game as a contest, having scored twice by the time 74 mins had elapsed.

And it was the Northern club's second new signing who hit the target.

Jamie Hughes put Derry back into the driving seat in the 61st minute following a skilful combination with Coyle and he added a third in the 74th minute following a Tommy McCallion corner.

In the first division, Waterford's John Frost has been hit with a two-match suspension while team-mate Wayne Fitzgerald gets one. Both were sent-off against Limerick.

Finn Harps defender, Shane Bardley, sent-off against Sligo, misses one game. Cobh Ramblers' Willie Byrne, sent-off against Limerick on Tuesday night, has received a two match ban for accumulating eleven points.
