Former PGA Champion and long-time television golf analyst Dave Marr died yesterday at the age of 63. Marr, a commentator for the BBC's golf coverage team at the US Masters since 1992, passed away after a long fight against stomach cancer.

The Texan was a member of the United States' victorious Ryder Cup team in 1965, the same year he won the PGA. He later captained what is widely regarded as the strongest ever American team to an 18 1/2 - 9 1/2 win over Britain and Ireland in the Ryder Cup of 1981. He is survived by his wife, Tally, and four children.

Nortel Galway won the Irish final of the Gardner Merchant Business Team Championship at St Margaret's. Tom Mullarney, Des O'Reilly and John Costello will now represent Ireland in the international final in Portugal next week.
