Corrigan secures role with Leinster

FORMER IRISH and Leinster prop Reggie Corrigan has been appointed scrum coach with Leinster.

The former loosehead prop and Leinster captain represented Ireland on 47 occasions after making his debut against Canada in November 1997 and was a key figure in helping Ireland lift the Tripe Crown in 2004.

The 38-year-old, who was also Leinster captain and guided the side to a Celtic League title in 2001, had also been involved with Ulster Rugby in a coaching capacity.

“There is an excellent batch of young forwards coming through the various underage levels and I see this role as a crucial means of developing the scrum across the province,” said Corrigan.

“My remit will be working with the under-20s and the academy and the various age grade groups in clubs and schools across the province. I hope this will lead to an improvement in the standard of scrummaging as well as enhancing the technical development of young props and, as a result, lead to a greater standard of safety for the players.”
