LEAGUE OF IRELAND PREMIER DIVISION - Cork City 3 Galway United 2:THERE WAS no shortage of drama at a rain-soaked Turner's Cross last night as Cork City came from behind to defeat struggling Galway United.
The visitors opened the scoring in the 35th minute when Derek Glynn raced on to Gary Deegan's pass. Despite the narrow angle, the striker exquisitely chipped the ball over Cork goalkeeper Michael Devine.
Galway doubled their lead 30 seconds into the second half and, remarkably, it was a carbon copy of their opener. On this occasion it was John Lester who provided the assist, allowing Glynn to apply another sweet finish.
Cork were back in the game in the 56th minute. In-form striker Dave Mooney cut in from the right to drill the ball beyond goalkeeper Alvin Rouse.
Cork were level courtesy of an emphatic Denis Behan finish from 12 yards in the 62nd minute after the latter was played through by winger Liam Kearney.
Alan Mathews's side were rewarded for their relentless pressure with 10 minutes remaining when John O'Flynn was taken down in the Galway box by Rouse.
The Barbados international received his marching orders and substitute goalkeeper Gary Rogers was introduced, but Dave Mooney converted the penalty to score his 11th goal in six games.
