Connacht Under-21 Football Championship semi-finals: Roscommon 1-7 Leitrim 0-9 An injury-time point from a close-range free by Derek Connellan gave Roscommon victory over a luckless Leitrim side in this semi-final at Dr Hyde Park.
Connellan's point put the home team ahead for the only time in the game and the final whistle went on the kick-out from Leitrim goalkeeper Cathal McCrann.
Roscommon did well to battle back into the game after being outclassed for the opening 25 minutes but Leitrim will wonder how they left victory behind them. They were vastly superior for most of the first half and led by 0-6 to 0-0 after 23 minutes.
Free-taker Declan Gilhooley accounted for four of those points but a miss by Gilhooley from a 13-metre free marked the turning point of the game.
The miss dented Leitrim's confidence and Roscommon finished the half strongly to score 1-2, the goal coming from a Connellan penalty four minutes into injury time.
Leitrim stayed just in front for most of the second half. They still led by two points with six minutes remaining but Roscommon finished strongly and following points by Connellan and Michael Finneran the influential Paddy O'Connor won a free, which Connellan converted to put the home team into the final.
