Clifden CS had a deserved 26-3 victory over Athlone CC in their Connacht Schools Senior Cup first round tie at Galway Sporstground yesterday.

The victors established a 10-3 interval lead with a try on 12 minutes from second row Brian Flaherty which was converted by outhalf Paddy O'Toole, who also had a good penalty just before half-time. Athlone's reply was a penalty by right winger, Cormac Sheehy.

After the interval Clifden had tries through replacement winger Eamonn McLoughlin and tighthead prop, Glen Mullen. O'Toole slotted home two further penalties to secure their place.
