Schools rugby Vinnie Murray Cup finalCBC Monkstown 27 Mount Temple 3 This match at Anglesea Road yesterday resulted in a resounding win for Monkstown despite Mount Temple battling hard up front.

Mount Temple's day got worse in the second half when fullback Paul Murphy twisted his neck with eight minutes to go. The game was held up for some time before he was rushed to a nearby hospital. The game by then was well over as a contest with Monkstown potent in attack. They were equally good in defence where Peter McLoughlin snuffed out the threat of Max Rantz-McDonald with some solid tackling.

Monkstown took just four minutes to breach the Temple line with fullback Rory O'Connor starting the move from inside the Temple half. Justin Kinch took the pass before spreading the ball out wide to wing Kenny Keogh who offloaded the ball to Peadar Nolan for the try. Temple responded with their only score on 10 minutes when Ian Denham converted a penalty.

Monkstown responded with two tries after that when Kinch converted a Paul Grannell try on 25 minutes and the second came from Peter McLoughlin.
