The death has taken place after a short illness of Charlie (CJ) Brennan, the former president of the Irish Lawn Tennis Association and a long-time administrator in the game here. Brennan played tennis since his early days in Celbridge and was a member of a number of clubs, including Elm Park, Fitzwilliam and Sutton over the years. But his outstanding contribution to the sport was as an administrator at Dublin leagues as well as Leinster and Irish council levels.
In addition to twice being president of the ILTA (now Tennis Ireland) he was also secretary of the association while at the time of his death he remained an active delegate to a number of international tennis bodies.
