Cork C 1 Bray W 1:A 74TH-MINUTE equaliser from Jason Byrne at Turner's Cross last night means that Cork City remain searching for a first league victory of the season.

The home side looked to be on course for the win thanks to Tadhg Purcell’s fourth-minute opener but Byrne was on hand to level with a good low shot from John Mulroy’s pass after Bray had broken quickly. In truth, Bray probably deserved to take something from the game as they battled well and were arguably the better side for long periods of the first half.

Purcell’s opener came after a lovely Daryl Horgan pass, but other than a Jamie Murphy shot in the 20th minute, Bray had the better of the chances.

CORK CITY: McNulty; Turner, D Murray, Spillane, D Murphy; Morrissey, Healy, Duggan; D Horgan, Purcell, J Murphy (O’Neill 57).
