Brazil coach Mario Zagallo yesterday spoke of his fear as his car was surrounded by a group of French fans and almost turned over in Paris.

Zagallo was on his way to watch Nigeria play Denmark in the Stade de France on Sunday when his car was spotted on the Champs Elysees by French fans celebrating their 1-0 win over Paraguay earlier in the day.

"One of them (the French fans) recognised me in the car and began shouting `It's Zagallo'. Suddenly there was a group of them around the car, they were shouting, banging on the car and shaking it.

"Fortunately after five minutes the police arrived and stopped it. We went through frightening moments, it seemed as if the car might be turned over."
