The members of Knockanally golf club may well be the most charitable golfers in Ireland. Having raised in excess of £16,000 for local and national causes at their charity golf day in August, the members of the north Kildare club have been digging deep again. In response to a GUI appeal to clubs to contribute to the Omagh Disaster Fund, the Knockanally members decided to allocate the proceeds of their annual Christmas champagne breakfast to the fund. And by the time the `Champagne Gang', led by Kevin Kenny, had served the willing golfers their breakfast and a liberal sprinkling of "bubbly", followed by a four-ball and a cabaret, in excess of £5,200 had been raised.
